Building the Smart Coin Storage Ecosystem
It’s been a little while since the last update here on the Coinfinity blog — and that’s because a lot has been happening behind the scenes.
Since August, Coinfinity has continued to evolve from a simple storage idea into a full smart, modular coin storage ecosystem designed for serious precious metal collectors.
This update is a chance to share what’s been built, what’s shipping, and where things are headed next.
Successful Crowdfunding Campaign!
We completed a successful crowdfunding campaign, with 14 backers pledging $3,925.00 to help fund project development! The campaign raised 524% more money than our initial $750 funding goal! Lake pledges are still available.

From Storage to an Ecosystem
Coinfinity started with a simple question:
What if physical coin storage could be as organized and intelligent as a digital collection?
That idea has driven everything since.
Today, Coinfinity isn’t just about stackers — it’s about connecting your physical coins to verified digital records using NFC, modular storage, and an open, extensible system.
Each Coinfinity stacker now integrates:
- Embedded 25 mm NFC tags
- Magnetic stacking and base systems
- Size-specific designs for real-world coins and capsules
- Compatibility across Gold, Silver, Platinum, and Palladium
The result is storage that’s clean, modular, and interactive.
Hardware Progress: Stackers, Bases, and New Sizes
Over the past few months, the Coinfinity hardware lineup has expanded significantly:
- Multiple stacker sizes (including XL, XXL, and now XXXL variants)
- Open Stackers for coins in capsules and holders
- Magnetic honeycomb bases for structured layouts
- Refined magnet and NFC placement to avoid interference
- Optimized designs for reliable 3D printing
Everything is designed to scale — whether you’re storing a few ounces or building out a full stack.
NFC Done Right
One of the biggest challenges was getting NFC “right” in a metal-adjacent environment.
Through testing and iteration:
- Magnets and NFC chips are now fully isolated
- Tags are embedded cleanly and permanently
- Scans are fast, reliable, and repeatable
- No removal, no shifting, no guessing
You tap your phone — and the coin shows up.
The Coinfinity App
On the software side, the Coinfinity App continues to grow alongside the hardware.
Key pieces now in place:
- Both Apps in Public Beta
- Tracked items linked directly to physical storage
- Planning backlog for Coinfinity PRO!
The goal is simple:
You control your data, and your collection stays verifiable and organized.
Coinfinity Stacker Generator
I've been working on a prototype of a Coinfinity Stacker Generator. The goal is to generate Coinfinity Stacker models on the flly based on your desired coins / stacker specifications. It looks quite promising, hoping to deliver something like this: https://gridfinity.perplexinglabs.com/
I plan to integrate directly with Gridfinity and create Parametric stackers that work with a gridfinity base.
Community & What’s Next
Coinfinity is also becoming more community-driven:
- Our dedicated Discord server - https://discord.gg/ZB2YtTjkZN
- Open documentation - https://CoinfinityDocs.com
- Public print profiles and guides - https://makerworld.com/en/@coinfinity/upload
- Starter kits launching through the store - https://coinfinity.us/
Upcoming work includes:
- A Parametric Stacker generator - in prototype phase
- Expanded documentation of generator
- App refinements, scoping for Coinfinity Pro
This project is still very much being built — but it’s now built on a solid foundation.
Thanks for Being Here
If you’ve been following Coinfinity since the early days — thank you!
If you’re new here — welcome.
This blog will be more active going forward, with regular updates on hardware, software, and ideas as the ecosystem continues to grow.
Smart storage isn’t the future — it’s already here.
